Happy Rainbow

Here's another card with more of that Echo Park paper.
It's another fun kiddies' card using the Unity Stamp Co's "Could I be any Cuter" set.

I covered the rainbow with Glossy Accents and the clouds with some Stickles.

Illusion in a jar

I love this paper from Echo Park (should've bought more...) and I wanted the background to 'show through' the jar. I used the Unity Stamp September 2013 Kit of the Month. So I paper pieced the jar and positioned it over the background so that the hot air balloons line up. I also stamped on some clear transparency and glued that over the jar with a cut-out heart (from the same set) behind it.
I used the Unity Stamps Co's September 2013 Kit of the Month.

One of these is for the birthday of a little girl at church (I wanted something fun and 'heart-y') and decided to make two so I can keep one for another occasion!

A "distressing" challenge at Digistamps4Joy

Christmas is hurtling towards us at great speed and I thought I should get some Christmas cards done. Just in case (we don't really 'do' cards here in South Africa). And this was perfect for the Digistamps4Joy challenge...
DISTRESSING
I printed out a "back copy" of the tree and then a further three trees to shade with my distress inks (Tim Holtz) and small sponge daubers. The pot & three tree layers were then glued down and the top two popped up with foam tape.
Some bling to round it off....

MAWTT DT card: Inspired by Music!

Moving Along With The Times has a new challenge and it is INSPIRED BY MUSIC!

Oooh I LOVE this challenge theme. Having been a bit of music geek in high school I can truly dig into this theme.
The music strip at the back is stamped with a clear stamp (sorry I can't remember if it's Prima or Kaiser Kraft!)
The bauble and sentiment is from the October 2013 Unity Kit of the Month. The bauble was gold embossed and then shaded with Fired Brick (Tim Holtz) distress ink before being cut out.

Christmas gift ideas with a crafty twist

I LOVE Christmas shopping. I can do without the stress and budget-limitation though. I do try to start very early in the year but I always find myself having to sprint later. I thought I would share some gift ideas I came up with this year:

Fabric crayons & a t-shirt

Card-making kit (using some of your stash)
This was probably the most fun to put together. I found some pre-cut blank cards & envelopes and bought a packet of A5 and one with the small ones. I added a packet of pre-printed sentiments, a little compartment box with die-cut embellishments, buttons, flowers and buttons. There's some rolled ribbons in packets & some doilies. I pre-cut some DP panels (they're behind the small card base packet). And then I printed some of my favorite digital stamp images from Digistamps4Joy, Meljen's and Digital Pencil (viewed top left). My niece who is the recipient just need to color them herself :D.
For the smaller cards I cut some plain cardstock and stamped some images from Unity Stamp Co. and GinaK Designs (viewed top right).

Hand-made fondant cake decorations
Oh dear, my friend Lianne might see this (LOOK AWAY LOOK AWAY!!!)

I bought pre-made fondant in different colors and used a star cutter in two sizes to cut the shapes. They dried overnight and I packaged them. The "name tag" is also fondant. I used my biscuit Letterpress set to "stamp" the name of the recipient. I very quickly made 5 such sets.

A jolly jar

I made this for the combined challenge at CAS-ual Fridays and Curtain Call.
I used my new Unity KOM October 2013. It's not clear on the photo but I stamped another jar on some thick, frosted vellum and cut it out to cover over the back image. The candy canes were put in loose behind it.
The holly & bow were paper pieced separately.
The background DP is from Webster's Pages.

Here is their inspiration photo: CHRISTMAS!

Another FMS card with Flair

I was on a roll so I used the same sketch from Freshly Made Sketches (#112) but turned my card horizontal.

I used the background stamp from my Unity KOM June 2013. The tag is from the Unity KOM October 2013 and the sentiment is a Bitty Happy Birthday

FMS with Flair

I used the current Freshly Made Sketches #112 layout for this card:
I stamped the flowers with Unity's Flowers from Neverland and just added some washi tape (torn by hand) underneath.
I needed a small sentiment and used this one from Papertrey Ink from the 3rd anniversary set "Round & Round".
Note that the washi tape is slightly transparent and quite smooth (slippery). I found that my Ranger Archival ink stamped the best on it.

DS4J challenge: Stitching

It's a new challenge at Digistamps4Joy and it's all about STITCHING - Real or Faux!
This card ended up not looking at ALL like I started when planning. I was going to use the DS4J images "Button set" but then when I matched my colored images with the DP I wanted to use it didn't look right. So I switched my image to "Dress on a hanger" and cut it out to glue to a "real" hanger and that looked a lot better. The dress was actually printed on DP as well (something I seldom do) and the top part covered in Stickles. Lots of bling added as well :D

The stitching was done by piercing a row of holes down the right-hand panel and then using a needle and some gold embroidery floss to stitch the row. Some bling was added in-between.
The close-up shows the Stickles and DP pattern. For some reason the Crystal Stickles made some lines on the top show up green. Quite nice I think :D

I think this is my "shiniest" card ever :D

Please join us at DS4J with some Stitching.

Snowboard Santa

I was looking for a cool image for a teenager and found this gem at Mo's Digital Pencil:  http://www.mosdigitalpencil.com/snowboard-sant...
