Freshly made sketch - Life's a Ride

(CLICK HERE for my latest DS4J post introducing my first digital stamp for sale!)

Here I'm sliding in at the end again!!  I love Freshly Made's sketches and they are often a first source of inspiration.

I used my one hole punch with the smallest hole to punch through the paper pieced sails. The bottom of the boat is also paper pieced and the reddish and green lines are coloured with Spectrum Noir markers.
The torn paper is Tim Holtz distress paper.
Image & sentiment: Unity Stamp Co' "Life is a beautiful ride"
Thanks for watching!

BIG NEWS - DS4J artist!

This has been completely unexpected but just sort of happened. I do not consider myself an artist. I do consider myself creative but somehow one evolved into the other. I've submitted an image to Margy at Digistamps4Joy for her shop and she graciously accepted! So here, my very FIRST EVER digital image!

Yep - that's my name on it!

I made it so that you can stamp or write a sentiment on the board if you want. You might have to play around a little with the size of the printed image. This little cutie is from GinaK Designs' "The Giving Tree" set. Perfect fit!

It is available in the DS4J shop from today (just search there for birdhouse and it should come up).
Margy and Jen also have new images available so please check it out!

Hopefully there will be more images following which will be especially suited to CAS and other card styles.

Be still my heart (Unity)

Here's a second card I made for the Unity {be inspired} monthly challenge.   I tried to use both the card sketch and the color challenge. The photo doesn't do the colors justice though. I shaded the inside of each petal light blue at the bottom and green at the top (watercolor pencils) and then lightly water-washed the colors to blend in the middle.

 Unity stamps used:
Sentiment - from a grab bag as prize
DP panel - Florals http://unitystampco.com/shop/strength-dignity-kom-1113/
and Butterfly http://unitystampco.com/shop/kind-beautiful/
Large flower - http://unitystampco.com/shop/strength-dignity-kom-1113/

Watercolor pencils from DERWENT

DS4J challenge 97 Black and White

Desire is hosting our new challenge over at Digistamps4Joy and we dare you to stick to black and white!  See the awesome DT projects for more inspiration!  My card is a CAS approach as usual :D

When I told my daughter I had to make a black & white card, she said "oh!! Like a zebra!!". I immediately remembered that Margy had created this gorgeous image called "ZEBRA".

The beautiful sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co' Kit of the Month, November 2013 "Strength and Dignity"

Please join us in our challenge!

Here's a suggestion - think silhouette!

Here is a special music video that I saw just yesterday and it perfectly fit my card. To all ladies, and especially young women and girls growing up trying to fit the mould of our vain society - watch this!

Unity "Be Inspired" - Party Ice Cream Truck

Here's my first entry into this month's Be Inspired challenge over at Unity Stamp Co.

I had a lot of fun making the card. I love a good sketch because it really helps to get the creative juices flowing.
Here's my card using Simple Party (Itty Bitty) and More than Ice Cream (the truck).

I used quite a bit of paper piecing on the truck: the body, the door and the canopy (I flipped the edge up for dimension). When I cut the truck out I had to lose the notes that are part of the stamp but I loved that idea, so I hand-drew some notes in afterwards.

The "PARTY" sentiment was coloured using two shades and covered in Glossy Accents.

The striped strip is Washi Tape.

Here's the SKETCH:

DS4J challenge nr 96 For the Boys!

It's my happy turn to host the current Digistamps4Joy challenge and this time it's

FOR THE BOYS!

I know Father's Day was a short while back but I just love making cards for guys (young and old). I think there could be a lot of fun in them!

I used the gorgeous LIGHTHOUSE from DS4J and used Derwent watercolour pencils to colour it and then lightly waterwashed it.
Once again I kept it clean & simple within a reverse die-cut frame.

Sentiment: Unity Kit of the Month Spirit of Summertime

Please join us at Digistamps4Joy and make something for the guys.

My McGuyver card!

Ok - this challenge almost had me stumped. I probably walked to my little craft corner half a dozen times today, picked up the piece of cardboard box (for the corrugated paper) and then put it down again. The "plastic" also had me puzzled - but then, all of a sudden, it all came together!!

It was AAA Cards McGuyver challenge!

Here's the challenge picture with the "recipe list":

And here it is! I'm actually pretty pleased:
The PLASTIC is a piece of plastic from clear stamps packaging and I put it over the background stamped panel (I bent it over the top and fastened it to the back with some washi tape. The side strips are for decoration and to keep it from flapping open).

The cardboard box piece felt a bit thick so I gently prized it apart and used the one half with the CORRUGATED part revealed.

Two HOLES to thread the STRING through.

Background & sentiment stamped with: UNITY stamp co Grateful Hearts (Sept 2013 sentiment kit)

This was actually fun!
