GIU girl week!! Day 1

What an absolute privilege it is to be Growing In Unity girl this week!!  I adore Unity's images and their very generous owner, Angela, makes the company fun to deal with but she is also SO generous with frequent sales that makes people like me able to afford just a little bit more :D

My style is CAS so you'll be seeing lots of clean space this week!  I decided to EMBRACE NEW BEGINNINGS this Monday morning and here is my first card!

2nd DS4J release today - BOOKS

Aaah I love books. Lots and lots of books. Especially "keepers" and "re-readers".  With our homeschooling we are also building up quite a library! DS4J Release - Rocket

Hope everyone got a chance to hop along with us at Digistamps4Joy!  The hop is closing on Tuesday so if you haven't yet, visit the home page to start the hop.  But for today we have new images and here is my first of two new releases today!
I love boy cards so here is my own ROCKET for my little boy (he asked for the card for his 5th birthday coming up in November :D )

The background was stamped in gold embossing and the rocket was cut out and popped up with 3D foam.

Latinas & America Guest DT

Hola! 

Cómo estás?

Oh dear that is about as far as my limited Spanish goes! But since hubby is originally from Argentina my kids have Latin American blood in them! Oh and lots of German too - LONG story :D

I am happy to be a Guest DT at Latinas en America and the theme is Back to School but with a twist. The project must be shaped like something school related. I have this cute little note paper stamp from Unity and used that to make a bookmark. I need lots of them!  I used the "School bag" image from Digistamps4Joy.

DS4J release BOX KITE

My Dad loved things that flew, especially airplanes and kites. He built a few kites by hand when I was young and I vaguely remember him trying a box kite. They can be quite tricky though!  So when I was thinking of flying things, this popped up almost immediately:

I used the WEEK 2 sketch from VIVA la VERVE sketches for August which I rotated left 90degrees.

Below is another close-up showing how I paper-pieced and popped up the top part of the front of each box on the sides.

DS4J release HOUSES

Here's the first of my new images for this Sunday's release at Digistamps4Joy.  I think there's a bit of the houses we've lived / live in, in these!

 I first wanted to make a magnetic card to put on the fridge, but of course when you're looking for craft supplies in a house where there's another creative soul (who's only 7), things tend to go missing. So my 2nd option was to put it in a frame that was in my craft drawer.

The font for the scripture is "Always in my Heart" (free commercial font)

I printed two copies out, the background copy was cut out as one piece and then the houses were coloured and cut out separately from the second and paper pieced on top.

Another new DS4J release - Flower frame

Here's a flower frame I made for Digistamps4Joy that goes with the zentangle frame and can also be used for sentiments. But here I made a collar for an envelope (3x4) that I made with my envelope punch board from We-R-Memory Keepers.  You can write the recipient's name on it and put it on a gift. OR use the frame as a name tag to paste on a gift.

 I used my Sakura Gel pen to cover the flowers and it gives it a smooth finish.
