Lawnscaping Challenge #13: Don't forget about the inside

When I first saw this challenge and I saw the fantastic pop-up cards on Lawnscaping's Challenge Page I didn't think I would even attempt something. Then my little girl received a type of pop-up book as a gift this past weekend and I was thinking ... mmmmm, I might just be able to do something like this!

Here's a little collage of the front, how it opens and the inside. Note that the whole card is mounted on a black base (not so visible on the first photo).

How I made this:

I first cut a piece of white cardstock (160gsm - that's the thinner type) to 6" x 6".
I then used GinaK's technique she calls "Victorian Distressed" (click for video). I first stamped the butterflies with Tim Holtz distress ink, Antique Linen, and then used a foam applicator to rub the same color lightly over the whole surface. I then went over the surface with Spun Sugar distress ink. After this I stamped the three dark butterflies with Aged Mahogany (Tim Holtz).

Before I added the sentiment on the die cut-out I did the scoring.

I first scored at 3", turned the paper and scored at 3" again. It looked like this:

Since my Scor-buddy is too small, I had to score from the top one corner to the bottom one with my Cricut Paper Trimmer's Scoring blade.
I forgot to take a photo of it when I was busy making the card but here's a picture showing how I positioned it in the Cricut trimmer (this is the final card already):

After I had scored all the necessary line, I folded on all the score lines. I basically closed the patterned side in on itself. Note that the diagonal score lines are folded in the opposite direction of the horizontal/ vertical lines. These then fold INWARDS into the card to close it all.

IMPORTANT: You always have to fold AWAY from the score line. I scored on the picture side and the fold lines slightly cracked. SO, turn the patterned side DOWN on the Scor-buddy when you do the horizontal and vertical score lines.

The die is from Spellbinders Fancy Tags (1) but I cut the one end off and let the other end hook over the side so it's visible from the outside (I popped a little pearl on it on the outside).

Glitter Birthday & Tags

These two cards are for www.stamptv.com June Release challenges! The DT's always come up with a nice challenge that is fun to do!
Glitter and/or Flock
First up is the Glitter and/or Flock challenge. I don't have flock and before this haven't even heard of it so I dug through my old craft box and found some gold and red glitter. The old, loose, messy stuff.

I stamped the butterfly and sentiment from GinaK's Enjoy the Sunshine stamp set. I then used the point end of my Tombow Multi Liquid Glue and added glue to all the open spaces. I then covered the whole image liberally with the glitter and very lightly patted it into the glue with my finger. I gently shook off the excess and let it dry for a while before continuing. After I added the ribbon I looked at the card and felt it missed something. So I added a row of paper piercing at the top to round the card off.

Tag Along
Here is my entry for the Tag Along challenge. We had to use one image and one sentiment on the tag. I decided to put the sentiment at the back and who said a tag has to be a rectangle or square :).
To stamp the flower image without the stems, I placed sticky tape over the stems on the stamp before I inked it up (used Tim Holtz Aged Mahogany distress ink). I then removed the tape and stamped the image. This gives the image the feeling of fading off at the bottom. I quite like that :)

The DP is from a TimKraft paper pack (Desert Bloom). I also decided to circle-emboss and layer the back sentiment to make it stand out nicely. The sentiment's circle was very lightly shaded with Tim Holtz Antique Linen distress ink.
