DS4J challenge 104 Preparing for the holidays or fall

Oh how I miss Autumn!  Here we have already experienced high summer temperatures and I just melt! Rather give me cool or even cold weather so I can function!  So at Digistamps4Joy we are PREPARING FOR THE HOLIDAYS OR FALL. I'll be with my Northern Hemisphere friends in spirit :D
Here's my card using some of the images in my Winter Warmers set:

The background snowflake strip was stamped with GinaK Designs "Snow One Like You"

DS4J Release Hot Air Balloons

Float away in the sky on some HOT AIR BALLOONS!  I have this double-image release available today in the DS4J shop.
Sentiment: UNITY stamps "adventurous"

Layout:  http://happylittlestampers.blogspot.com/2014/11/hls-november-sketch-challenge.html

(The balloon image is a total coincidence since I submitted my image to Margy at DS4J last month already :D  - I love it when great minds think alike!)

MAWTT Sparkle or Shine!

Don't you just love it when you have the perfect image or sentiment for a challenge?  I did a little happy dance when I saw our new SPARKLE / SHINE challenge for Moving Along With The Times because I immediately knew which image and sentiment I was going to use! There was no alternative!
(click to enlarge for a better view)

Image and sentiment from UNITY:  http://www.unitystampco.com/shop/kind-beautiful/
And then as luck would have it I had the perfect sketch to use from Retro Sketches:
I paper pieced the cupcake wrapper with the same sparkle embossed background DP (my last of the paper pad which was my very first 6x6 paper pad I ever bought! Prima I think).  The word "SPARKLE" and the crown was first coloured with Spectrum Noir and then I covered it with Sakura Stardust pen.

Let's sparkle as the year rushes to an end and join us at MAWTT!

DS4J release Beach Umbrella

My new image, Beach Umbrella, is being released today and I had in mind all the other great nautical images in the DS4J shop when I drew it.  And then when I had to make something with it, I thought, how about making one HUGE merged image with some of my favourite beach and ocean images? But I couldn't fit it all onto one card!  What to do? Make a 'magnetic scene' with it!

I printed all my selected images (links below) out onto a printable magnet sheet. They are not very thick and the magnet is not very strong, but it does stick where it touches the metal backing directly. I put it on an old scrubbed baking sheet.  This is what the packaging looks like:
I just added some torn strips of kraft-core paper and glued some off-cuts of the magnet sheets to the backs. You can still slide the images in-between the layers as well.

I could easily add another dozen images to this, like Jen's swimming costume girls, or my box kite! Who knows I might add some more for fun :D

Images used:
Coconut tree from set "Aloha"
Turtle, sand castle, bucket and beach ball from "Fun in the Sun"
Beach umbrella (NEW)
Sail boat
Beach hut
Lighthouse

They were all coloured with SPECTRUM NOIR and the slightly smooth surface worked extremely well with blending and staying in the lines. (Printed with laser printer).

Check out the DS4J BLOG for more inspiration and more releases today!

DS4J challenge Anything Goes

WHOOP it's your favourite challenge theme!!  Come and show us your creations, but especially those Digistamps4Joy images you have!  I used one of the very first DS4J images I ever played with, COSMOS and it remains a firm favourite of mine:

For the floral panel I created a grouping of the image and then printed it out. I used white crayon to 'colour in' where I didn't want the distress inks to go. I then used distress ink with a finger sponge to rub over the image. Give it a light wipe with a tissue to clean up the crayon and you have a quick but effective panel.

I used my butterfly dies from Joy! Craft and layered two sizes. I first die-cut the negative out of the floral panel and then nestled a die-cut of patterned paper (Webster's Pages) into the opening. I then glued the middle of the smaller size on top.

I used the layout from CAS(E) this Sketch where my very good friend, Hannelie, is Guest Designer!!
